New Song of Russian Civpol
UNMIK Civpol Oleg Rubezhov is an active member of the Movement of Young Peacemakers and Schools of Peace. In May 2001 he was a guest of the Summer Camp of young peacemakers in Moscow. In April 2002 he participated in the Conference "School of Peace is the School of Young Peacemakers". In September 2002 he has planted the Peace Tree in the courtyard the UN Information Center in Moscow. Beeing a UN peacekeeping veteran and a composer at the same time he became the author of "the March of Peacemakers" in 1999. A now he has written a new song "Peace to the Planet"

Peacemaking Heros have got their Awards from the UN Representative and Children
Doctor Leonid Roshal, known for the liberation of children from the hands of terrorist at Dubrovka and UN volunteering veteran Vladimir Yulin were awarded yesterday with the commemorative badge "55 years of UNTSO". Besides them there were also awarded the first Soviet peacekeeping veterans, UN civil servants and a number of teachers in Peace Education from Russia, Canada and Sweden. The ceremony was led by Mr. Stephan VASSILEV, newly appointed Permanent Representative of the UN System in the Russian Federation and took place during the celebration of the International Peace Day organized by Moscow Children Movement and Movement of Young Peacemakers at the Moscow House of NGOs (Mosfilmovskaya Street, 40). Hymn of Peacemakers will be Performed by Children
The Hymn of Peacemakers will be performed by chidren during the celebration of the International Peace Day to take place September 19 at Moscow House of NGOs (Mosfilmovskaya Street, 40). It will not be the first performance of the Hymn. Composed by students of Moscow High School # 1532 it was presented for the first time at the UN Information Center in Moscow in May 2003. Following the recommendation of Russian peacekeeping veterans to improve the text of the hymn young composers have spent the Summer vocations to design new text to be able to present new version to the participants of the International Peace Day in September.

International Peace Day in Moscow
By decision of Russian National Committee on celebration of the 55-th anniversary of UNTSO the International Peace Day-2003 will be marked September 19 at Moscow House of Non-Governmental Organizations (Mosfilmovskaya Street, 40). It will be organized by Museum of Peacekeeping Operations, Council of Children NGOs of Moscow and Movement of Young Peacemakers and Peace Schools in cooperation with Government of Moscow, UN Infornation Center in Moscow and UN Resident-Coordinator in Russia.

Certification # 1650 for Russian Paratrooper
Sgt Sergey Dokin became the 851-st paratrooper to be entered into the Gallery of Honor of the Museum. He served as UN peacekeeper in UNTAES from April 25, 1996 to October 30, 1996. Among the papers sent by peacekeeping veteran to the Museum there were Certification # 1650 and photos "Orderly" and "On duty".

Over 800 names of Russian Peacekeepers were Listed in the Gallery of Honor
Names of 850 Russian peacekeeping paratroopers awarded with the UN medal "In the Service of Peace" were entered into the Gallery of Honor of the Museum in August. These were the military personnel of the first Russian battalion to enter Yugoslavia in April, 1992. According to general Nikolay Stasykov, Chief of Staff of Russian paratroopers the number of Russian peacekeeping veterans among paratroopers may reach 20 000 persons.

Documents of Istanbul Conference
Documents and materials of Istanbul Conference were published recently on the web-site www.detirossii.ru. The conference was carried out by RNC (Regional Network for Children) from June 15 to June 18, 2003. The conference was open with the launch of the global campaign "Leave No Child Out" initiated in Russia May 30, 2003 by Mrs. Rosmary McCreery (UNICEF, Russia) and Mrs. Ella Pamfilova (leader of Russian Union "Civic Society to Children of Russia".

Tradition of Russian UN military observers to mark their National Day all together goes back to 70-th, when the first group of Soviet military observers was enlisted in UNTSO. On the photo: Russian National Day in MINURSO HQ, 2003.

Bulgarian Report in Photographs
Wreath of Flowers was put on the Monument to Russian troops perished in Bulgaria during the Second World War by the group of young peacemakers June 22. The report about this event and other activities of the summer camp of Moscow children NGOs in Bulgaria was contributed to Museum funds by Peter Vakhrin, young peacemaker from the Secondary School # 56. Report of Young Peacemakers about Mission of Peace in the Ukraine
Final Report on Mission of Peace of young peacemakers in the Ukraine came to the Museum July 4, 2003. According to the leader of the group Inna Eremchenko, who signed the paper, the activities during the mission were organized in three main fields: a) Training of young peacemakers; b) Sports and excursions; c) Meeting and conference with WW-2 veterans. By the end of the mission all children have successfully passed the exam on the program "Young Peacemaker". For the details see the Report of Inna Eremchenko (Russian).
