The ceremony of donation into the Museum funds of new exhibits took place at the Australian Embassy in Moscow. Mrs. Victoria Ivanova, consultant of the Embassy on political affairs and culture handed over the flag of Peace Monitoring Group and a few elements of uniforms and insignia of peacemakers in Peace Operation in Bougainville to the Museum representative. The exhibits were supported by the document "Outline of Bougainville Operations" describing the development of the first major multinational peace operation to be led by Australia.

Contest and exhibition of children art works against racism will be organized at the UN Information Сenter in Moscow early in May. The idea of such an exhibition in support the World Conference against Racism in Durban was generated at the round table of school principals to take place at the UN Information Center in Moscow. The key speaker at the round table was Mr.Yuri Reschetov, member of the UN Committee on Liquidation of the Racial Discrimination.

Meeting of the first group of Soviet UN military observers in UNTSO took place during celebration of the 61-th anniversary of the Military Institute of Foreign Languages at the Palace of Youth in Moscow. Peacekeeping veterans to come at the meeting were awarded with the book "In the Service of Peace. 1973-2000" by the decision of the Council of Veterans of the Museum of Peacekeeping Operations. Launch of the International Year of Volunteers took place in Moscow December 5, 2000. Over 50 representatives of teams of young peacemakers and secondary schools marked the launch at the secondary school # 112 (Central district of Moscow) and at the secondary school # 1923 in Zelenograd (41 km from Moscow). The ceremony was a part the Decade of Good Deeds to take place in Moscow and Moscow region Dec.1 to Dec.10, 2000 in the framework of the project "Model of UN Peacekeeping". December 19, 2000 over 50 representatives of educational establishments to participate in the Decade were awarded with the special Certificate of recognition of volunteer efforts at Moscow Teacher-Training Institute at the address Moscow, Prechistensky Pereulok, 7-A.

Young peacemaker Basil Davydov (schoolboy from the central district of Moscow) won the second place at the contest on UN history carried out by the UN Information Center in Moscow. Mr.Alexander Gorelik handed over to Basil Davydov the special Certificate and a present-wristwatch from Russian-Swiss Company, which sponsored the contest.

New member of the Museum was put on the list of contributors of the Museum. His name was Sergey Bushuev, who served with UNTSO twice: in 1980-82 and in 1987-89. Now Sergey is working at "DANKO" Cultural Center in St-Petersburg. A letter of gratitude for the photos, presented to the Museum, was sent to Sergey Bushuev.
